2010年

Year 2010,

For me, 2010 is over today. (;ω;)
After two semesters of studying, the second year of my university life has come to an end.
This time next year, maybe...I'll be graduating...
As VAMPS' song goes, TIME GOES BY!!
It really goes by very quickly...even if you're not having fun.

Reflecting back, it's been a bit more than a year since I moved to Melbourne.
To be honest, the more I stay here...the more I've come to dislike this place.
I really want to go back to Auckland!!
I guess this is because Auckland is the place I grew up in and as long as all my beloved friends are there, Auckland will remain my home-town.
Even despite these feelings, I'm not keen to stay in Auckland for the rest of my life.
I still want to go to many places.
I want to work in Singapore, I want to live in Japan.
I want to meet many different people and I want to experience many different things.
I guess I am a nomad for life!!! (´・ω・`)w

2010 really has been quite eventful.
I travelled to a place by myself for the first time
My favourite band reunited...
I earned my first real pay-check
I spent the money I earned
I started playing アメバピグ( ̄▽ ̄)!!

But...most importantly, I learnt some important lessons about myself.
I'd like to think I matured a little this year...not only mentally but spiritually as well.
I know I'm still lacking in many areas so I'll work hard to improve and change myself!

2011, I hope it will be a good year.
I hope to go to Japan in 2011.
I hope to graduate in 2011.
I hope to get a full-time job in 2011.
And, I hope to fall in love in 2011.

素敵な男, please come to me!! 。・゚゚・(≧∇≦)・゚゚・。 ♥

おひさしぶるですね!

Hello!

Writing in 日本語 is too 大変 and I'm also very 嬾惰 so today, I'll update in 英語!bleah

It's been sightly over seven months since I moved to Melbourne.
Even though it seems like I've just moved here, it's actually been quite a while.
I'm glad to say I'm now quite well acquainted with the transport system.
One thing I've learnt: Melbourne Metro really likes to screw around with their passengers.
Just yesterday, I waited 20 minutes for the next train to come only to hear that it was cancelled. After which, they made us change platforms twice before I managed to safely board the train home.
On the other hand, catching trams is really a novelty for me. Since Melbourne is one of the few tram cities left in the world, I feel sort of privileged to be able to ride on a tram.
Though I thought it scary at the start...as passengers are left standing in the middle of the road, I'm now proud to say that I now catch a tram like a local. wink

Another really great thing about Melbourne that I've learnt to love is the shopping!
When there's a sale, it's really a sale. I'm so happy to be able to buy branded jeans for $15 (15,000円) and jackets for $35 (35,000円). The warehouse outlets are particularly satisfactory!!
I must say that there are a lot of mid-year stock take sales going on at the moment!
Though I haven't been able to go for a look see, I will definitely head down to the shops soon.
I've also learnt that shopping is something I do to keep me away from stress.
Even though initially, because I knew no one, I was always shopping alone...but even now, even though I do have friends in Melbourne, I think I'll still prefer to shop alone.

What can I say about Melbourne Uni and Melbourne Uni students?
Just from one semester, I've gathered a lot. I have to admit that made a lot of assumptions and I've stereotyped a lot of people. Melbourne Uni is most definitely a university that puts money making as one of its top priorities. The standard of English of the students I've interacted with is very questionable.
Because of their poor English writing ability, it made group work very 大変 !
From the start, I've always hated group work and now, well let's just say that I still don't particularly enjoy it. The commerce faculty is a Chinatown. Almost every person you meet is an Asian.
Meeting a local white Australian is really quite rare. Everywhere you go, you hear the Singaporean or Malaysian accent. It sometimes feels like I'm back home, to be honest.
Its because of times like these that I miss my friends in NZ. I miss their accents. I miss talking to them. I miss their different way of thinking. I miss the fact that every conversation we have doesn't need to revolve around Singapore. A year ago I had no Singaporean friends. Now, I have so many I'm sick of them.
It's funny how life bites you back like that.
Though I do have a few Singaporean friends that I really like and treasure. I hope they feel the same way about me too. smile

I have to say that Japanese food here is really horrible.
It's made by Chinese people so it has a Chinese food flavour. Maybe I haven't been to the right restaurants yet. I really want to eat real Japanese food again.
In NZ, there were numerous Japanese restaurants that I frequented which were all run by Japanese people.
I've yet to find one over here that is just as good and affordable so I'm really missing Japanese food.
Though I have to say that I've recently fallen in love with potato coquette! It's deep fried but it's so sinfully delicious. bleah Korean restaurants here are not too bad. Though I have to say that I was really very spoilt for choice in NZ. The Korean population in Auckland is definitely larger and more prominent in Auckland city that in Melbourne. I miss the side dishes they serve at Kang Nam Station! They are very stingy with the side dishes over here. I don't think they do free refills either. I'm really missing the good food, the good life and the good company!

Well, this has been my 7 months in Melbourne! smile
I've made a few friends and possibly a few enemies but I'll keep moving forward despite everything.
I'll be moving forward at full speed so don't you try to stop me!
